Blue Rx Information Now Available Online

Everything you need to know about expanded drug coverage - January 1, 2017

In the last round of NBA bargaining, BCNU negotiated significant improvements to drug coverage for nurses. Starting January 1, 2017, nurses will have access to drugs included in the Blue RX formulary, developed and managed by Pacific Blue Cross (PBC). Under this new plan, approximately 1,200 of the 1,460 drugs approved for use in Canada will be available - nearly double the number of drugs covered under the previous plan.

Visit www.pac.bluecross.ca/pca to find out more about the plan. Using the Blue RX drug look up tool, members can see if their drugs are covered under the formulary and whether they require any prior authorization. Frequently asked questions, as well as contact information for PBC representatives who can help, can also be found on the site.

It is important to note that no nurse will lose coverage as a result of the change from the current drug plan to Blue RX. If your drug coverage was previously grandparented, that will continue.
