Job Fair July 28-30 provides expedited process for FH casual and regular level DC1 and CH1 nurses to access regular positions

July 24, 2015
In an effort to ensure all nurses with seniority in Fraser Health have the opportunity for access to current internal and external vacancies, there will be a Fraser Health Job Fair taking place from Tuesday July 28 until Thursday July 30, 2015.

This special job fair process flows from the recent Settlement Agreement between the BC Nurses' Union, Ministry of Health and the Health Employers of BC, which set out targeted funds and created a joint employer and union committee, the Nursing/Health Authority Committee (N/HAC), in order to address a number of issues related to implementation of the 2012-2014 collective agreement.

Who does this apply to? Who can apply for these jobs?

This job fair process applies to all DC1 and CH1 regular and casual RNs who are already working in Fraser Health and therefore have seniority in FH.

What vacancies will be in the FH job fair?

Internal and external vacancies in acute, residential and community departments will be part of the Job Fair. Both non-specialty and specialty DC1 and CH1, RFT and RPT positions will be posted during this Job Fair. To apply for the specialty positions you must have completed the specialty course. If you have not completed the specialty education course you will be placed on a waitlist for evaluation for the next cohort.

What is the actual posting period?

The posting period, in accordance with usual Fraser Health procedures, is from 2:00pm Tuesday July 28th when the postings go up until Thursday July 30th at 2:00pm when the postings come down.

How do I apply for the available positions?

The application process is the same as usual. As "internal" applicants you must apply from a Fraser Health worksite computer.

Important note: You must indicate in the comment section on your application if a position is your #1, #2 or #3 choice, if you are applying for more than one position.

How will the decisions be made about how these positions are filled?

Once the postings close the Employer and the Union will award positions by seniority, assuming you meet the job description requirements or would be able to meet them with enhanced orientation in order to do the job, such as in the case of a new graduate.

How long will it take for me to find out if I have secured an available position?

Successful applicants will be notified by a Fraser Health employee by telephone and email via an employer rep within one to two weeks. Fraser Health and BCNU have agreed that successful applicants will be expected to commit to stay in their awarded position for at least a six to twelve month period, depending on your hours of seniority.
