BCNU celebrates PRIDE across the province

June 27, 2014
Members and staff are looking forward to participating in PRIDE parades and festivals in their communities again this year.

BCNU supports the efforts of the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) community and their allies to end discrimination in all areas of society, including healthcare.

We support the LGBT population's efforts to ensure everyone receives appropriate care with dignity and respect.

Joining with communities to celebrate Pride is a great way to demonstrate our union's ongoing commitment to human rights advocacy. BCNU members are encouraged to promote inclusion and safe, publicly-funded healthcare by joining their colleagues at the following events:

Get in touch with your local BCNU Pride contact for details on local marshall areas and start times, some of which are yet to be determined. Members that participate will hand out various BCNU-branded health-promotion products along parade routes, and may perform blood pressure and cap glucose checks at the BCNU festival booth. The public response to our participation in past years has been excellent as it provides community members a chance to appreciate the value of nurses' work all while promoting health awareness.
