LRB will hold votes at 33 worksites for nurses (RNs and LPNs) to choose their union

The BC Labour Relations Board (LRB) has ordered that only one union in each workplace will represent all nurses (RNs and LPNs) in the Nurses Bargaining Association (NBA). This continues the BC government's Bill 18 process of ensuring that LPNs are represented in the NBA.

All nurses at the 33 worksites listed below will soon be voting to choose either a nurses' or non-nurses' union. The union that receives a majority of votes at each individual worksite will represent all nurses at that location.

In 2012 more than 7,200 Health Authority-employed LPNs voted to leave HEU because they wanted the specialized services and workplace support that BCNU provides to nurses. LPNs in BCGEU and IUOE are currently signing up to join BCNU for the same reasons.
