Extended Health Benefits to Remain Unchanged Until 2023
Member consultation to begin as soon as possible
During the last round of bargaining, the parties agreed to address the increasing costs of paramedical benefits.
BCNU members were to be consulted with regards to two options: a flex-benefit approach, or a cap on massage therapy with any savings moved to other benefits. Changes were to be implemented on January 1, 2021.
The challenges and workload created by the COVID-19 pandemic have delayed that consultation. BCNU has successfully negotiated a delay to the implementation of any benefit changes until January 1, 2023.
BCNU is committed to consulting with the membership on the best approach as soon as possible and will continue to provide further updates especially as we begin the process of preparing for bargaining.
