Provincial Treasurer Tenders Resignation

Vacancy to be filled following a special election

BCNU Provincial Treasurer Anita Dickson has resigned from the position effective immediately, citing personal reasons for her decision.

Ms. Dickson has requested the union share the following statement to members:

“After much thought and careful reflection, I have made the decision to resign from my newly elected position of Provincial Treasurer. I would like to thank the BCNU Council for their support and understanding. I am honoured to have been elected to our union’s provincial office and have a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for the enormous responsibility such a role demands. As I look forward to my next steps, I am guided by my passion which remains in nursing and helping people. I wish Council a successful term ahead and will continue to support BCNU in its commitment to nurses.”

Once the union’s provincial nominations committee has been informed of this resignation they will take on the responsibility of organizing a special election to fill the vacancy. This, following the process outlined in Article 5 of the BCNU Constitution and Bylaws and Policy 5.2.8 – Elected Officer Elections (BCNU Policy and Procedures Manual, available behind the BCNU Member Portal).

BCNU Council respects Ms. Dickson’s right to privacy and would like to thank her for her time and effort in the role and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours.
