Registry supports the voluntary deployment of health-sector workers during emergency events

The Ministry of Health is calling on health-care workers to add their name to the Emergency Health Provider Registry (EHPR). The EHPR is a provincial online registry that supports the proactive and voluntary deployment of health-care workers to communities across BC in emergency events including wildfires, floods and pandemics. Nurses, including employed student nurses, who are interested in volunteering can register using the form on the BC government’s website.

Completing the form does not create an obligation to respond to emergency events; participation in any deployment is always voluntary. BC health authority employees are encouraged to discuss registration with their supervisor, as all deployments will require supervisor sign-off.

Nurses who are already signed up will be receiving an email from the Ministry of Health that outlines some of the key areas of need at this time. Current EHPR registrants will also be asked to confirm their continued interest in being on the registry and will be directed to a web portal to update their information.

For more information, review the government’s FAQ document.
