Strategic Plan to Improve BCNU Member Service

September 30, 2016
Over 20,000 hours of direct representation to be added

President Gayle Duteil announced today that the BCNU will add over 20,000 hours of direct representation for members. The goal is to ensure that service levels to members will be enhanced.

The BCNU Council has agreed to direct $1 million of member's dues toward improving service for members.

Improving the service has three parts:

  1. Having experienced nurses to be shift schedulers to provide quality rotations.
  2. Ensuring members receive full value from the new collective agreement.
  3. Communicating directly with members in all workplaces and understanding the challenges members are facing daily.

The $1 million will be spent on 20 union representatives to improve our services. There will be no increase in union dues to finance their initiatives. The $1 million is unspent monies that are available due to the COPE/MoveUp strike. The money will continue for the next six months and we will analyze the finances and revisit the issue depending on if the strike continues beyond the 2017 new year.
