Here's the Deal: BCNU and HEABC Agree to Resolve Outstanding Disputes

May 07, 2018
More nurses to be added to the system and further improvements for LPN members among the highlights

BCNU members will soon begin to see the effects of collaborative and results-focused negotiations between BCNU and the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC). This deal concludes a number of outstanding disputes related to the 2014-2019 provincial contract and has been agreed-to by both parties.

Members will see a number of positive improvements to their current working conditions - most exciting being HEABC's commitment to add an additional 1,026 full-time equivalent (FTE) RN and RPN positions and 226 FTE positions for LPN members by December 31, 2019. This is in addition to their previous agreement to hire 2,125 nurses by March 31, 2016. Combined, this will bring the total number of nurses hired into the system to more than 3,200 since 2012.

Throughout National Nursing Week, May 7 - 13, as BCNU celebrates the hard work of nurses, members will receive a series of announcements introducing a different aspect of the agreement that will directly improve the working conditions of nurses.

Following the close of National Nursing Week, please visit the contract page for details on the agreement.
