National Nursing Week is May 6-12, 2024. This year’s theme is Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow. and recognizes the tremendous impact nurses have on patients, communities and the future of health care.

Embodying Your Practice: Cultivating Agency When Systems Fail Us

BCNU is hosting a special online education opportunity focused on providing members with the tools to feel empowered amidst overwhelm. Join Embodying Your Practice facilitators Anita Chari and Angelica Singh on May 7 for a noon-hour webinar where you can explore embodied and trauma-informed tools that help prioritize health and cultivate personal and collective agency.

National Nursing Forum in Australia

To celebrate National Nursing Week, BCNU is sponsoring four members, including one dedicated seat for an Indigenous member, to attend the Australian College of Nursing’s National Nursing Forum in Cairns, Australia, from Aug. 14-16.

This is the Australian College of Nursing’s signature annual leadership and educational event, which brings together nurses, students and other health professionals from around the country and across the globe. The conference theme is Regenerate, Reinvigorate, Reclaim – Sustainable solutions for our future.

Interested members will be able to submit an expression of interest via the BCNU Member Portal beginning Apr. 18, 2024. The deadline for submissions is May 17, 2024, at 4 p.m. PDT.

National Nursing Student Day

The Canadian Nursing Students' Association (CNSA) recognizes May 8 as National Nursing Student Day. BCNU invites student nurses to join an informative one-hour webinar about professional conduct on social media and the standards nurses should adhere to. The presentation will be held on Monday, May 6 at 12 pm noon PDT. A random draw will also be held, and four winners will receive funding towards their studies. 

This event is open to all BC student nurses and program faculty, whether a current BCNU student member or not. Register for the webinar today
