The BC Nurses’ Union thanks the nearly 20,000 people who sent emails to their local MLA, the premier and the health minister in support of a collective agreement that supports safe patient care and a stable health-care system. Job action is now over, but the fight for better care continues.
BC nurses ended job action on July 24, 2026, bringing to a close the longest nurses’ strike in BC history, following the Nurses’ Bargaining Association’s acceptance of recommendations from mediators. The non-binding recommendations address some of the major concerns nurses had with the tentative agreement reached on May 22, as well as actions for all parties to take to address serious, systemic issues including workplace violence in health care and the prevalence of nurses performing non-nursing duties, which continue to pull them away from patient care.
